Fight the rust in my volvo penta

That the marine environment is hostile to everything already knew, but that after 3 months in water appear the first signs of rust on the engine this surprised me not a little. I will try to use Rimox made by CRC to convert the rust and later i will spray original green Volvo Paint. This is my idea, anyone have a better way to deal with?
Thank in advance for any help.

I spray the engine with Fluid Film, LPS3 or other similar anti-rust filming agent every spring and fall. Adds another element to the engine compartment aroma but I figure it helps.

Re: Fight the rust in my volvo penta

I used a wire brush bit on my drill to remove the rust, then put a coat of primer on the bare metal before painting. It seems to be holding up pretty well, but I suspect I may have to do the occasional touch up. I have yet to try any spray films over the paint. I am interested to hear more about that option.

That really is not serious rust, friend.
Scrub it with some degreasant, and spray some engine paint on there.
