outboard motor lift
I have a catalina 400 2005.
I would like to be able to lift my yamaha 15 2 stroke form the caribe to a mount on the stern.
If anyone has fitted a lift and motor mount to a 400 I would be interested in the details.

Re: outboard motor lift
Have a Garhauer stainless steel motor lift on my Catalina 42. Easy to install. Mounted it on the aft rail center/port side, just inboard of the stern rail seat. Remove it when not on extended trips where I will be using the Caribe. The mounting ring remains on the rail and the base ball-mount also remains. Your 15 hp 4 stroke is relatively heavy, so be sure to get a lift that will carry that weight. My mounting position allows the lift arm to swing out far enough to lower the motor onto the Caribe stern. You'll also need a motor lifting strap. Good luck. Lee in N.C.

Re: outboard motor lift
Thanks Lee,
I have seen one on a 42 but a little different from 400. I still might be able to make the Garhauer work though. the Yamaha 2 stroke is only 79 pounds.

We had a Hinckley 42 when we were cruising a few years ago and Hinckley
had made us one that was easy to put on and off the Caribe single handed from the dhingy or the boat. Not the same kind of skills available on Lake Texoma though.
thanks again for the reply.
