Universal M12 Fuel Pump

For the m12 do you need a fuel pump to run it

Re: Universal M12 Fuel Pump

Mine has an electric fuel pump that I run for a few seconds prior to starting. The engine will start without it but it takes a long time for the fuel to get pumped into the engine. The key switch has a spring-loaded position, similar to a key start, which turns on the electric pump. Starter switch is a push button.

A diesel has two fuel pumps. The high pressure injection pump whick supplies the injectors with fuel and a low pressure pump which supplies fuel from the tank to the inlet of the injection pump. The low pressure pump can be either electric or mechanical. Note that if the fuel tank was located above the injection pump, the head could be enough to supply fuel to the injection pump without a low pressure pump.

An electric fuel pump will make bleeding your engine much, much, much easier.
