Simrad autopilot chatters???

I have a Simrad WP30 Autopilot which I just installed on my Hunter 30. It chatters all the time - 1/8 inch to port, back to starboard. It does this for a while then stops for a while and then starts up again. The adjustmenbts it''s making are not enough to move the sailboat in any direction, so I am wondering why it does this. A friend''s does the same - he says it is just reading the sea and updating itself. Is this normal? Anyone else have this autopilot? My olf Autohekm 3000 never did this, but then it wasn''t computerized. Appreciate any comments.

I had the same problem and attributed it to the binnacle mounting strap loosening over time. I retightened the strap and the chattering went away. The WP30 is great, but the mounting system is not so great.
