AC Panal Lights???

Had an issue this morning when the reverse polarity light went on. Read up on the problem here on sailnet and fixed the immediate issue by simply changing the outlet on the shore power tower. Have two other amber colored lights which indicate normal operation. Not sure if its a problem but one light stays on very steady and bright while the other is faint and sometimes rapidly blinks. So far the reverse polarity light is staying off. DO I have a problem indicated by the one faint amber light. The Catalina manual is silent on this issue. I have a 1987 Catalina 34

Re: AC Panal Lights???

Bump, I have no idea about your boat, but generally when a power fault indicator is blinking, that indicates an intermittent ground or other fault caused by loose wiring, etc. Loose wiring can cause arcing and eventually fire, even if it takes years before that happens.

Sounds like the shore power connection needs to be checked, and if there's nothing wrong in there, you'd need to check your own wiring for faults.

If your indicator is a neon bulb, it could also be flickering simply from old age, dying out. Still needs to be checked.
