Gas Squirting from Carb Top

Hi all,

My 6hp Tohatsu has always had trouble idling so I cleaned the carb by soaking it for a few hours, sprayed the jets etc and remounted. The idling issue didn't go away but now a new problem came up: GAS SQUIRTS FROM THE TOP OF THE CARB when priming the ball or when the engine runs.

This points me to think there's something wrong with the float or the fuel pump. I didn't disassemble the float when I cleaned the carb since it seemed to be working ok. Today I took out the fuel pump but at first sight I don't see anything wrong either.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Paulo

I don't know about the gas squirting, but many times trouble idiling can be a vacume leak....Good luck

Sounds like the float valve is stuck open and you are getting fuel out the float bowl vent.

Thanks for the input, I'll check the float and valve.
