Hang Interior Cushions

I have an Oday 34 and in various places backrest cushions are mounted on plywood and then screwed into place from behind.

Does anyone have a good idea on how I could mount a track instead? I want to be able to remove them easily but I do see value in them not moving around too much.

Links or pictures would really be helpful

Re: Hang Interior Cushions

Ditto velcro. Works well on mine to keep them in place.

Re: Hang Interior Cushions

I fitted a couple of brass hinges to the back of mine, when I want to take them off for the season I just knock out the pins and off they drop. I wanted to be able to lift them up to make more room to sleep but that didn't quite work out

Re: Hang Interior Cushions

This is actually a good idea. I had to remove my cushions by unscrewing them from behind from within my little cabinet things. Luckily I had one of those compact right angle screwdriver ratchets otherwise I couldn't have done it.

Here is a good place to get various forms of Velcro
McMaster-Carr

Also consider 3M dual lock. It's the same as Velcro but I think it's stronger and more durable.

I have a question for you, I have an o25 and want to take the back rests off. How did you get behind there? What tool fits?! Thanks

Another possibility (though I do think velcro would be most practical) might be to attach some luff tape type material to the cushions and mount appropriate tracks for them to slide into.

Not exactly what I had in mind, but perhaps close enough to get the idea:

Talk to your sailmaker about the hardware that might work.

Re: Hang Interior Cushions

We have a Ranger, made by the same yard.

The cushions are similar in style but the connection is different. There are brackets at each end of the back rests, and the boards the cushions are on have enough wood exposed at the ends to slid into the brackets. The brackets are made of wood. Think closet rods in the closet only the rod is a board and the bracket is a deep u shape and mounted from the back.

Maybe you could retrofit a mounting system like this?

Re: Hang Interior Cushions

Double ditto to Velcro. Why have them bolted or hinged or screwed in place? I can't see any benefit and several downsides.
