Peel Away Marine Strip II is the same as Standard Peel Away

FYI
Earlier this month, I posted a question about Peel Away Marine Strip II. It is supposed to strip the bottom paint without stripping a barrier coat and it is very expensive. Since then, I have called the company and spoke with two different people on two different occasions and both told me that Marine Strip II is the same as basic Peel Away I for general use available for $30.00 per 1.25 gallon container at Sherwin Williams stores (not Peel Away Marine Strip I).

I baited the question by saying that I had heard that the two products have similar formulations. I was told both times that they are not similar, they are precisely the same product.

I am going to use the Peel Away basic on my bottom next week. It has a barrier coat. If I lose the barrier coat, I will post the result on this site.

Happy scrubbing, sanding, polishing, waxing and painting.

Having used both products #1 & #7 I can tell you that they are definitely different formulas and that is probably the reason they are priced at $90.00 and $250.00 respectively for 5 gallon cans.

You can by #1 at any Home Depot, works very well with ablatives but has a hard time with hard bottoms.

The barrier coat remained intact but the product didn''t perform all that well. I''m sure Bermuda is correct that #1 and #7 are different formulations.

I had ablative paint on the bottom and the product took it down to about the last layer where I could scrub the remaining paint off with brush and water.
