hydraulic autopilots
I have a Westsail 32 and want to install a reliable autopilot. Is there any reason why a good linear hydraulic ram system couldn't be attached directly to the tiller. If a proper installation were made, the hoses could be routed through water-tight deck fittings and the pump could be mounted below. A permanent mounting near the back of the tiller, with a large pin that can be pulled to quickly disconnect the system, shouldn't be that difficult to engineer.
Has anybody heard of this being done?
