Mantus Chain Hook Demo

This is a Mantus Chain Grabber Video, we have been getting a lot of questions regarding this product from the forum members, so we made a little video to explain things a little better.

Greg, looks like a great chain hook. I'd like to order one, but I don't know how to measure my chain!! How can I determine what chain I have?

Measure the diameter of the link rod. If you were to take a single link and break the weld, straighten it out to make a single straight rod. What is the diameter of that rod. Usually 5/16, 3/8, 7/16, etc. A good set of calipers will help.

The 5/16 Hook will fit 5/16 and 3/8 chain but is only as strong as the Hi test chain 5/16 size. It is plenty strong for the 3/8 BBB, Proofcoil. Hi test chain usually will say G4 on the side links, BBB will say 3B.
This is a good place to get the dimensions of the chain from:

BBB* Windlass Anchor Chain

But sizing is done by the thickness dimension as Treilley suggested.
So just measure the thickness of the link and see if there is any writing on the side of the link.

Re: Mantus Chain Hook Demo

Thanks! I'll measure the chain on the weekend and then place the order. My current chain hook is rusty and keeps falling off the chain!!

I need one of these, but I plan on buying 1/4" G70 to save on weight.

Any chance the 5/16 hook will work for me?

It will, it will have 1/16 of an inch extra slop so a little more loose, but still much better than the regular Grab Hook.
