Discover EV Traction Batteries?

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with these batteries? They are being sold as 'premium AGMs' but the price in South Africa seems very reasonable. I might buy 2 4D size.

The Discover batteries are built in China, at Vision or Orema I believe, and were designed in Canada. They've been around about 10 years +/- in the market but not so much in Marine.

They were designed to try and equal the longevity of a GEL battery but in an AGM. They have thicker plates than most other AGM batteries and they claim 700 cycles to 80% DOD but I have no idea how they hold up.

The pricing here is slightly higher than Lifleline, Odyssey or Deka East Penn which are known quantities.. Personally I prefer GEL over AGM but in most applications for cruising boats wet cells win the $$/Ah and longevity/$$ equation..

Re: Discover EV Traction Batteries?

The way my boat is set up I cannot use wet cell batteries because of access problems. I don't need to replace my batteries now but these seem like a good deal. The 4Ds are about $500 each and if I leave South Africa within 30 days, which I will, I get the 14% vat back, which is already included in the price. I checked Defender's price for Lifelines and it was over $600 not including tax. There is a problem with the terminal type though.
