Forestay Anchor Plate Replacement Ranger 23

Hey everyone, the anchor plate for the forestay on my Ranger 23 has some serious cracking and corrosion (just noticed it will while scrubbing the scum lines) and looks like it might fail at any moment

I'm looking to replace it without dropping the stick, and am looking for advice as to whether that's safe and feasible. I'd need the help of a rigger, and I still need to find the part, but if really like to avoid pulling the boat out of the water at this time.

It seems like if I could brace the mast forward, it's possible on a calm day in a slip we could get the old anchor plate off and bolt the new one in, reattaching the turnbuckle and tightening the forestay.

Still a little green but not born with two left hands. All help and advice appreciated

Re: Forestay Anchor Plate Replacement Ranger 23

Sure you can.. run a halyard or two to a decent cleat near the bow or the toerail if you have one, tension it as a temporary forestay.. Then slacken the forestay and replace the 'chainplate' (proper term... not 'anchor plate'...)

Re attach and retension the stay after the plate is secured.. give the caulking/sealant time to cure first.
