Re: Dorade boxes???

Thanks...The contoured guards look good.

I would definitely do boxes if the guards won't interfere with the sheets during a tack

Re: Dorade boxes???

mine have no guards and i enjoy air flow via these features with no ingress of water if and when any comes over my bow....

Re: Dorade boxes???

I find dorades are great, but not perfect. Even in driving rain at the marina, I can occasionally get ingress. It is wise to have the round cap to remove the vent and cover them over for severe weather. Or, perhaps just a vinyl cover would work, if you can secure it.

Jeanneau 54DS

In the harsh marine environment, something is always in need of repair. Margaritas fix everything.

Re: dorade SS replacements

I have the fiberglass molded dorade boxes with the plastic bases and use the PVC dorades, like the set-up shown in photo posted by Faster.
Has anyone tried to replace the plasitc base ring and replace with SS Dorades?

The whole point of the guards is so the lines can slide over them rather than snagging on the cowls.

They provide great grab rails as well.

I, myself, personally intend to continue being outspoken, opinionated, intolerant of all fanatics, fools and ignoramuses, deeply suspicious of all those who have "found the answer" and on my bad days, downright rude.

Yes, we replaced with a Yogi- got a better price than this although they arent cheap. Nice cosmetic addition and bling for the boat. Works excellent and takes 6 minutes to install.

Vetus makes great products in many areas.

Re: Dorade boxes???

Thanks, Faster. Yer dwg cleared up details nicely. Very much like a rain-proof roof vent, with the exception of the "box" separator.
