What kind of paint should I use?

I am replacing a bulkhead. The original bulkheads are 1/2" plywood with a teak veneer. Now is a good time to change the appearance of the cabin. I want to prime and paint all the bulkheads a shade of white to brighten up the inside. I don't want a harsh high-gloss finish from a polyurethane type paint, but I don't want a flat latex type house paint either. I was thinking of using the oil-based Kilz to prime and follow up with oil-based semi gloss trim paint. What would you think?

If I had teak veneer on my cabin walls, I would strip it and varnish it. People pay good money for teak veneer. I just started stripping my varnished veneer cabin floor. I'm surprised how easily I am able to strip it. I'm using Circa 1850 wood stripper.

I do have white walls in my cabin and I use a white semi-gloss with mold and mildew inhibiters. I just picked up some Behr paint from Home Depot. I think it's water (not oil based). I used Interlux Pre-Kote for my primer as I had some left over from another project.

I'd go with a kitchen/bath type - stands up to scrubbing more. Some even have anti bio stuff mixed in
