Re: Bow thruster advise

Is there a "jet thruster" being made? (silly question?) something like jet drive on jet skis....

Guess the docks could get sprayed .. and the people on the docks... Should the vessel rock...
eep!

Denise, you say that like it would be a bad thing.

jimrafford, can you give us an idea (ballpark is fine) of the cost of the Yacht Thruster?

Re: Bow thruster advise

In most cases I think it's because it's a cool piece of expensive gear.

I, myself, personally intend to continue being outspoken, opinionated, intolerant of all fanatics, fools and ignoramuses, deeply suspicious of all those who have "found the answer" and on my bad days, downright rude.

Re: Bow thruster advise

Stumble
Good points.

But, this boat has a full long, deep keel with plenty of room for the thruster up forward. She also has an incredible amount of other storage space.

Again, plenty of room for the three battery banks we are planning on installing.

Weight forward is not an issue as there are three led ingots (150#) currently below where we are going to install the thruster.

As for reasons, I am almost exclusively sailing single handed out of a marina with a strong river current that pins the boat against the dock. Additionally, in a couple of years I am headed over to the Med and with the docking systems they use a thruster is a really nice thing to have.

Finally, the installation is really not that expensive since the boat is already in the mist of a major refit.

Thanks for the input.

Mike
