Suzuki DF 6 outboard motor fuel switch?

Hello, I recently purchased a Suzuki DF 6 outboard motor. It is a 2007 and has an internal gas tank as well as a fuel line connector for an external. There is a fuel switch underneath the head. I think I figured on and off but I'm wondering if there is a position on the switch that allows fuel to flow in from an external tank or will connecting up an external tank override or supplement the internal tank.

I cannot locate an operating manual so if you have a link to one, please let me know.

Thanks!

Phil Turner

Hi! I do not think that there is a internal/external fuel selector - just the fuel on/off located under the lower engine cowling. Either way you don't really run the risk of getting stranded.

Re: Suzuki DF 6 outboard motor fuel switch?

If I hook up an external tank to the motor fuel fitting, will it automatically take in fuel while the motor is running? Does it do this at the same time that it uses fuel from the built in tank or does it automatically over ride the built in tank? I sure wish there were an operating manual for this motor. I purchased the generic repair manual for Suzuki's and I can't find anything on operating.

I believe that Tohatsu makes the Suzuki 6hp. (could be wrong) If so, maybe try tracking down a Tohatsu owners manual.

I have the Tohatsu 6hp with internal tank and will look at the manual when I get back from dinner tonight if it turns out they are the same.

Maybe someone else can confirm that for you???
