Bottom paint

We bought a boat and has a hard bottom paint, we can't find any maintained records( the owner died) and the wife knows nothing. I assume this is VC17 which is for fresh water where we are now. The bottom paint looks great but we want to put on a bottom paint more suitable for salt and brackish water as we are taking her to Flordia in the fall. Here is the question , can we put another type of hard paint over the VC17?

Re: Bottom paint

Not really. It won't stick to teflon. VC17 removes with acetone, but you may have to be aggessive in sanding, to set it up for a barrier coat, first.
