Vibration dilemma

When you replaced the cutlass bearing, did you notice any unusual wear on the shaft?

You can set-up a guage and have someone turn the prop while you determine if the shaft is true.

Another thought: how snug did the new prop fit onto the shaft? If not properly seated, it will vibrate at different RPMs, similar to a tire being out of balance on a car.

Vibration dilemma

When I replaced my two bladed prop with a three blade, I got a noticeable vibration at low speeds which disappeared at higher revs. Finally found that shaft struts were at exactly 120 degrees to each other, so blanketed two blades simultaneously three times each rev. Yard cut off struts near hull, welded plate across remaining stubs, and to that welded new vee struts at smaller angle. Worked fine.
