I have a 2001 Catalina 310. I hauled it out for bottom
paint and to replace thge cutlass bearing and found a little moisture seaping around the strut. (the strut seems to be very tight, I could lean into it and it didn''t seem loose) The moisture meter read 100% right beside the strut. The head of one of four bolts which I can access inside the boat had a little rust on it. It is fiberglassed tight to the strut all around on the outside. The yard told me to scrape out a little fiberglass around the strut, fill it with 5200 and it would be ok for another season. When I haul it next time I should knock the bolts through, drill holes to let it dry out and reattach everything. Has anyone else had this problem, is it dangerous and how expensive was it to have fixed. I also have vibration when in gear. More at low rpm''s and less at higher rpm. any advice would be appreciated.
