Shut down the engine, push the trans into reverse for a moment to ensure the slip stream closes the blades and then shift back to neutral.

Re: 2-Blade folding propeller

If you're going to be a true fanatic... mark the prop shaft inside the boat when the axis of the two blades is horizontal.. and make sure the shaft locks/stops in that position.

That way, when you slow down in really light air the lower blade can't 'fall open' and add to the drag.

Re: 2-Blade folding propeller

The geared flex-o-fold just closes even when I grab my mooring and don't try

The martec on my friends boat which is not geared does require setting the shaft

If a dirty bottom slows you down what do you think it does to your boat

With my Flex-O-Fold it continued to spin in neutral. I had to lock it in reverse to get the blades to close.

Re: 2-Blade folding propeller

Itgoshen,
Do you have a diesel or an Atomic 4?
If it's an A4 you have to lock it in forward since the A4 has no positive lock in reverse.
