Interesting dilemma. I recall this stuff being commonly sold at marina chandleries. My boat was built 8 years ago with 1.25" clear wire reinforced raw water hose from the thru hull, into and out of the transmission cooler and to the raw water pump. From the pump to the oil cooler is a specific Volvo black hose. OEM from Jeanneau that way. I supposed it wouldn't be the first time for them to use a less expensive part, but one would think it would have trouble with ABYC, if not suitable.
