Paint for dinghy floor and transom

We need to repaint the (removable) plywood floor and the wooden transom of our inflatable dinghy.

We have already in our basement a perfectly good can of grey (the color we need) Muralo alkyd floor and deck enamel. The advantage of this paint is that it is essentially free at this point. Whereas a quart of marine poly goes for $45.

Does anyone think the sky will fall if we use the Basement Special?

I use regular alkyd paint on mine, but I first seal the edges with epoxy. When the paint is cheap you're more inclined to repaint it every year or so.
