Bobstay chainplate in a Southern Cross 31

Do you know how the bobstay chainplate in a Southern Cross 31 is designed? I'd like to remove it, inspect it, and re-bed it, but the removal bit is a puzzler. The chainplate appears to be glassed into the stem and is, therefore, essentially unmaintainable without making a lot of fiberglass fly. Does removal involve some trick?
