Well, this isn't meant as debate or fault-finding, but note the engine telegraph handle is at full ahead--not straight up at "all stop" as we might have expected if they were trying ot abandon ship. So if she plunged or capsized, it must've come very suddenly, likely with everyone still at their duty stations and not lifeboat stations.

I read in the article it appears her back was broken before she floundered, so chances are, she plunged

No debate - skipper clearly wasn't paying any attention to his HD radar and never bothered to download current GRIB files - what was he thinking??
