AFAIK that was the biggest hoist in the city - an 8 wheeler, well over 100 tons. I wonder if it was simply overloaded or if something like a critical fastener failed.

This happened Saturday morning.
It's a 150 ton hoist that was used by Stones Marine in Nanaimo many years ago. This hoist must be well over 30 years old by now. Looks like it just folded up under the load.
