Best 4th of July Fiireworks in the Salish Sea?

Going down to Paulsbo WA for the 3rd of July (and staying for the 4th) fireworks has become a bit of a tradition on S/V Fairhaven. We have our good friends that we've picked up in Seattle and gone over for the show for 4 or 5 years now.

This year we were planning to do the same, but after looking at the calendar and length we realised that our longest trip this year would totally be dictated by the calendar (the most dangerous item on a sailboat) if we do the same thing this year.

We've crossed the straights in a building gale and motored for 12+ hours before to make this trip happen but this year, with a 10month old kid in tow we're looking for something easier. Something closer to our home port of Anacortes WA.

Where else puts on a good 4th of July fireworks display in our area? Whidbey island? San Juans? Where is the best show?

Also, any Sailnetters planning on showing up to any of the shows up north?

My wife and I used to sit on the roof of our house in White Rock and look out over Drayton Harbour and Semiamoo Bay. You could see for miles.
On July 4th it looked like a war zone across the bay.
Compare it to our Canada Day celebrations on July 1st, there is quite a contrast.

We have three rules;
No screaming.
No bleeding on the sails.
No slobbering on the charts.

Fishermans bay on lopez has a pretty nice show. Not sure how far that is from you per say. Lots of anchoring room per say, not sure how many slips will be available at the resort, and they want a 3 day minimum up front. My YC has 50 slips reserved for the weekend.

Everett at one time had something going on.

You might check out the july issues of 48north or yachting. They sometimes list fireworks shows. 48north is online at least, so what went last year, will probably go this year.

The Poulsbo fireworks are fantastic. For the 4th maybe you might want to swing over to Eagle Harbor, Bainbridge Island for their 4th of July fireworks. My club, Bainbridge Island Yacht Club is one of the primary sponsors of that event. During the day, on the 4th, there is a huge street fair and parade in Winslow. Just a thought on some options.

Let me know if you come, we are moored in the Eagle Harbor Marina, south shore of Eagle Harbor.

We are planning on leaving the Everett marina on July 1st and were wondering the same thing.

Our plan was to head North and see if we could get to Oak Harbor by the 3rd.

I hear that they are going to have events all day on the 4th.

I think you could swim from Everett to Oak Harbor in two days. It's only about 25 miles, so 4-5 hours of sailing.

I'll probably be in Canada on the 4th, but staying a day longer to enjoy the fireworks at Lopez isn't a bad idea.

I'm no longer participating on SailNet.
