Boat burns in Grenada!!!!!
 
This morning a boat caught fire in Prickley Bay Grenada... a new 80 foot Jongert super yacht...

Pretty sure it was a carbon rig as it seemed to bend in the lower thrid first then buckle. I think it was carbon.
The bend in the mast started after the mainsheet severed. so it was the weight of the boom thats done the mast... you can see that in the photo (but you cant really see that the boom is outboard on the starboard side)

Hull is aluminum. thats why its survived so long.
Its still burning now, and aflots. makes me wonder if it happened at sea that the crew shuoldnt stay as close as they can to the hull, wait for it to burn out and get back aboard?!

The Coast Guard's fire pump doesnt work at the moment (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Thnaks :) Cannon 40D does 9 frames per second.. so the mast falling down I have it moment by moment.

Cruisers have offered the crew accomodation, clothes etc :D

Aluminum can burn or at least melt if it gets hot enough.. and the heat would probably affect all the the through hulls before that point.
