Need some Sailnet HELP and Love!!!..

My name is Brenton Hart, I'm 30 y/o and on Nov 1 I plan to get married
God willing to my beautiful Fiance Cara. I'm originally from Michigan and have lived in Newport Beach, CA for close to 5 years and for this reason I've decided to get married in SoCal along with my fiance who has a similar story from S. Carolina. We come from families and backgrounds who love the water and I would like more than anything to be able to show case Newport Harbor as a gift of gratitude towards those in my wedding party, and parents on both sides for making the effort to travel the extent that they plan to, some from out of the country. With that said we'd be part of a group of about 20-30 people and are wondering if there is anyone out there who would be willing to for a nominal fee extend their sailboat for a leisurely half day sail. I can tell you a little bit more about myself and those who i plan to share this moment with but we're not a rowdy group, just out to take in the moment and the experience. My brother has been a (non-licensed) Captain for a 70+ foot Sailing Vessel in Newport for 2 years, along with his friend who is a licensed Captain as well, sailing his whole life. Half of the people on the boat have average or more boating/sailing abilities. Let me know if you might out of the kindness of your heart and the recognition for what a moment a situation like this would mean, be able to perhaps take a group of us out on your vessel, or someone you know who is willing. The date of the sail would be NOVEMBER 2. I come to this forum because I know that this community comes though with helping people as my brother asked to have someone take him out on a sail to propose to his wife and one of your members took him out and made it happen. Thank you for taking the time and effort to imagine this with me; look forward to hearing from you.

20 to 30 people comfortably for several hours? That'll be a pretty big boat to loan to someone.

If I understand correctly, you want your licensed captain friend to operate the boat, not the owner?

Best of luck.

bring them all to Annapolis and have them out on the schooner Woodwind

That is a lot of people for a personal boat. You probably have looked, but there are several companies where you can charter boats from:
Marina Sailing Newport Beach - The Fleet
Adagio Yacht | Admiral Yacht Charters, Newport Beach, CA Boat Rentals
Newport Cruises - Electra Yacht

And there are several others.

Best wishes on your upcoming wedding!

It would be more impressive if each one of you went out on a separate sailboat...after some synchronized sailing to the wedding music, the groom's boat would T-bone the bride's boat, thus symbolizing the wedding night...the bride would then sink the groom's boat with a small cannon, thus symbolizing the likely course of the marriage...and all the family members and friends would flounder around trying to save them from sinking, thus symbolizing the trial separation, until the lawyers sail in with the judge for the divorce, under a final display of fireworks and more cannon fire!

Then everyone can go home, wet, exhausted and happy! Sailboat repairs to commence following the honeymoon...

In no way do we expect someone with a large sailboat to hand over the keys, just wanted them to know that we have some experience to help out aboard while out sailing, unless they feel comfortable letting us go, but I personally would like the owner to come along so he can enjoy our company and so there are no worries on his/her boat.

Also we know this is alot of people, and that can always change, I am open to suggestions and advice as well, I'm currently looking into other options like the marinas but have pretty much done most of the work on that. It is possible but with a membership, large fees, and classes, it's hard to justify for 1day.

Thanks for reading and commenting everyone.

You're really asking for too much. You'd need either one 70 foot boat or five or six 30 foot boats.

If you were in my area (and the date wasn't in November) I might volunteer to take out the bride, groom, best man and maid of honor. I doubt anyone would offer much more than that.

Just my opinion; never hurts to ask, I guess.

Good luck,

Ken
