Glorious Reach

Leaving the Vineyard yesterday, the wind, the tide, the sun, and the weather, reached up to match our mood. The wind was on the verge of too much for full sails. No we're not going to reef. The sails are filled perfectly. The tell tails are straight back. The wind is just aft of the beam. The boat is surging forward with every gust. The knot log is pegged. The spray is flying out to the sides and we are dry and warm. Watching the froth as we cut through the chop. The sun shines in the crisp dry air. The sea sparkles back in the sunshine. The wheel tugs back with a gust. I sit on the leeward rail and smile.

The Glorious Reach. Sometimes life is just perfect.

Voyages matter, but this thread is about a perfect moment under sail. Describe yours.

Re: Glorious Reach

Hey thanks, but it cannot be just me?

After crimping/not soldering, fixing your bilge pumps, getting your engine working, dreaming of circumnavigating in a boat that costs only $5K and you can fix yourself, getting caught out in weather and having a BFS, finding that unfindable leak, someone else must be having a great moment under sail.

Tell me yours, like an addict I need more
