It's so unfair!

All those stink potters zooming by and all that junk in the river. I know it's not true that they don't get damage from all that junk. But for petes sake! Us "innocent and squeaky clean" sailboaters seem to get everything.. and including the kitchen sink in our props, shafts, rudders.. and here it happens even when on the mooring!

Re: It's so unfair!

I picked up a pot buoy yesterday. Nothing like: "putt, putt, putt, THUNK!" and then dead silence to put a hitch in your heartbeat!

I waved down a friendly stinkpotter* and he let me stand on his boat to cut it loose (I have an outboard, so it was a pretty easy job).

It bugs me that the 'lake lice' (PWC) never seem to have a problem.

Amazing, that they never suck any debris into their jet drives ain't it?

Thank God for Martec folding props.

CS, maybe you're onto something. I've seen outboard jetdrives...

Re: It's so unfair!

Denise I was always amazed at how fast some of those power boats go on the Delaware. I've seen some BIG stuff floating down the river after a heavy rain.

Always made me wonder about folks out on a mooring...

Re: It's so unfair!

truth is power boats have lots of problems with floating things at nite time mostly, hitting a tree or log ,lobster buoy, etc.hitting at 6 knots versus 36 knots, get the picture

Friends hit something in the chessie in their 33 foot cabin cruiser.. bent both shafts and pretzeled the props.
