You do need a decent amount of time, but it's well worth it. Some people bring their boats up here and spend a few seasons exploring our coasts. Unfortunately, our season is fairly short (May to October, with July to Sept. being prime), and the water usually remains quite chilly. But it's fresh, and clean (we drink it directly at times), and the scenery is amazing.

Re: Where do you like to cruise?

I plan on cruising the Channel Islands this summer

Caribbean next Grenadines maybe.

PNW is on my short list, as it was 20 years ago when i specifically desolation wilderness.
Visiting the big cities not high on my list except maybe Vancouver when in the PNW. I feel it would be easier to explore a big city from a well placed hotel.

Trinidad to St Marten, the sea temp in this area is about 80f year round, the air temp means it is clothing optional sailing year round [ by day at least ] , the trade winds are such that I can sail rather than motor and best of all the islands are friendly and different.

Re: Where do you like to cruise?

I try and find that secluded lagoon, with the half moon beach and palm tree shade.. Other than that, I'm alway's trying to find that cool little wharf side Bar with the dock that I can sail to, sit at the Bar and look over at my boat. I just found one In Guanaja at Grahm's Place.
