Blisters

Can blisters fade or disappear altogether if a boat has been out of the water for a while or will they always show? I ask becaus I have plans to view a boat that had been hauled, according to the broker, 2 months ago.

Blisters

Yes if they are just under the Gel coat which are the most common, as the hull dries the blisters will recede. You can usually tell there are voids by careful examination. If the blisters are deep in the laminate they usually take a very long time to dry out if not opened and drained. Drying out the hull depends on humidy and temperate. Search for osomosis on the web and you will find articles that may be of interest.

Also; depending on where the boat is, if it freezes the ice bubble expands, the gelcoat cracks, lets the water out and then lays back against the glass, and they can be very hard to see.

How about that Walt -- Two of us in a row.
