Maiden Voyage

Taking my maiden voyage this morning on my new (to me) San Juan 7.7. I'll be moving the boat 15 miles up the Puget Sound to another marina. Not much wind today...guess I'll get to see how the boat does in light wind conditions

The image poster here is kind of persnickety. Google 'free image hosting' and you will find something like this:

Free Image Hosting at FreeImageHosting.net - Upload & Share Images on Social Networks, Blogs, and Galleries

upload to the host, then cut and paste the desired URL to SN and voila!
Have a safe and fun trip!!

Re: Maiden Voyage

Thanks for the picture instructions! I'll have to give it a try after my 10th post. Evidently I can't post pics until after that!

Re: Maiden Voyage

The first sail on the boat was GREAT! We left the dock with little to no wind only under power of the outboard. All was not lost as I needed to break in the new tohatsu 6hp sail pro motor I just purchased. I was surprised at half throttle the motor pushed the San Juan 7.7 at five knots. We were just entering the ebb tide and as the tide started its swing we decreased speed a little, maybe a knot. halfway to the new marina the wind had gotten to 5 or 6 mph so we decided to hoist the sails and motor sail. The boat healed a little to about 10 degrees and she picked up a few knots right away! This boat feels alot different than my 22ft US yacht I've been sailing on the past 6 years! The San Juan is so much more responsive and feels more "planted" in the water. All in all a great day on the water!
