Apparently I've been doing it wrong for many many years. All I started using when I was a kid was a compass and a VHF - just in case. Seemed to work just fine.

Now you need a apps, radar, charts epirb.... jeez. It use to be so simple....


Seriously though, its a 90 min? ride in that boat and a straight shot out of the harbor for you. Watch for other boats and check the weather. You'll be fine.

Ah nice yeah ill probably get a chartplotter but that's it. Can u see the island from the harbor?

Those big cargo ships are REALLY fast. You'll see more than one going across. Stay out of their path because you don't know if there's a competent captain at the wheel or an 18 year old who can't speak English playing with his phone on watch.

Yeah I've been hearing a lot about fhose big cargo ships. I'd never give thrm the benefit of t he doubt of seeing me so I'd always back out of their path
