Yes, those narrow traditional rudders on long keels with the prop in a small aperture are very tough.

Straight:
I tried to address that problem in depth in my GOB article on rudder design, July.August 2010.
On pretty much any full keel, prop in aperture boat rthe turning arm is just way too small.

I saw the title of the thread and thought it had something to do with having a spare sailboat for, you know, backup.
