Choosing a Blog

With the work about to commence on my 50 year old Sea Sprite, I thought I would document it all in a serious, yet hopefully amusing way. (we shall see on that)

So who you do recommend on blog programs and hosting?

Re: Choosing a Blog

Check out Sailblogs. Very easy, and free. Or, pay a few bucks and eliminate the ads on your blog. I don't recall what else the upgrade gets you, but bottom line, it's user friendly.

Re: Choosing a Blog

I use Google blogger after trials with other sites proved to be less than stellar.

I reckon they are the least likely to fold.

Blog Pics are on Picassa too.

Re: Choosing a Blog

Blogger and WordPress are the two biggies. They're both free, so you can check them out and see which one you like better. I'm surprised that I don't see more sailing blogs on Tumblr, which is well-suited to shorter more frequent posts that are less involved than a full blog, which is often how sailors write (especially cruisers). In my opinion, SquareSpace has the best looking templates of all of the blogging platforms, but it costs money and I guess you'd have to really care a lot about the design to go that way.

I roll my own, but I'm a weirdo.

My Boat Log, or "blog" if you will:

Re: Choosing a Blog

Why not just document it here on this site?

Re: Choosing a Blog

actually, wordpress is also a pay to use--i pay for my website--i didnt the first year--i see the difference with the pay to use--is once annually..like, 99usd..and my mom can find me....lol what a concept.

mine is not a blog, but a website. there seems to be a large difference. less whining on websites than in blogs....
