Curious what you all think of this video

It seemed like a lot of Optis and I'd not want to return to the dock for my well deserved beating!

1. Some people will try to win at all costs, without regard to, or concern for, the rights of others.

2. There are many inconsiderate people in the world.

3. That looks like a beautiful day for sailing.

4. Man, those Melges haul a$$.

Re: Curious what you all think of this video

A) I agree with the commentator, it was STUPID!
B) Pardon my ignorance, but there were apparently 2 races running concurrently within the same area? Is that normal? It looked as though the two courses overlapped?
C) As stupid as the first two Melges crews were, they were somehow at the head of the pack!

Re: Curious what you all think of this video

If both fleets were part of the same regatta, then some of the blame has to lie with race management for laying out overlapping courses.

Having said that, the Melges could have gybed early rather than charging through the Opti mark rounding. The reality is, as obnoxious as it may seem, they were within their rights to go in there provided they did not foul any right of way boats. If they DID foul someone, they should be punted from the race.

LOL, I love the Italians! Can you imagine if this was to occur in the USA. Spent our honeymoon on Lake Garda, indeed a great place to sail and absolutely gorgeous. We rented a Hobie there and had a freaking blast. And yes I agree, stupid not to jib

Cheers,
Shawn

Typical. Unfortunately I was not surprised, and to think about 12 dudes or more in total counting both crews, concurred on the move. Like a conspiracy to be a$$ holes. I've seen them here in Miami cut in front of our tug and barge just to get a leg up. But to run over children in dinghy's?! Beautiful place though! where exactly is that?

Re: Curious what you all think of this video

So am I wrong in my assessment that all of the Optis who hadn't rounded the mark were on starboard tack, and were the leeward boats, and all of the optis who had gone around the mark were being overtaken, and so, every opti that that those Melges boats barged in on had rights, and he fouled like, a couple dozen boats inside of 30 seconds?

This will clearly end up in a guns on sailboats discussion.
