installing a shower into a ericson 31.

I have a girlfriend who will be sailing with me when i get a new boat.
usually i just wash with a bucket of water and a bar of soap but my gf feels that is below her.
is there anyway i can install a shower into the toilet room.
and somehow waterproof it.

Re: installing a shower into a ericson 31.

Possibly more cost effective to install a new girlfriend in the boat?

EDIT: jokes aside, Atoll did a nice example of installing a shower pan into a small boat I think not too long ago on here, though I can't find a link to it right now. He built the pan out of ply, then glassed it IIRC. you'd want to run the drain down to a small pump to evacuate it overboard, could use a sump or a small box sitting in the bilge. Some drain to the bilge direct but that's a bit gross IMO.

I have to admit, that was my first thought, too. However, what about a solar shower rigged in the cockpit? As long as it isn't too cold where you are located I guess.

Are you sure she isn't trying to get you to buy a larger or different boat? My C30 has a shower in the head. It's not spa-quality but it gets me out of the cockpit.

In your "best interest"? You sound like a man who needs an escape plan.

I'll stop before I get kicked out of the club.

Re: installing a shower into a ericson 31.

I use a pump up sprayer, with a kitchen vegetable sprayer fitted on the end. cheap to make. In the summer it will warm up in the sun during a day of sailing. In the cooler months I add a teapot of boiling water. its down right luxurious.

I cant claim any credit, I got the idea from reading Hal Roth's book "how to sail round the world" (great book btw)

Im a man who knows when to shut his trap or risk a night bobbing in the waves in our zodiac.
I like the idea that you suggested i just need to find a way to put it in with the toilet somehow.
Thats the keyword `how`
