Trying to find other sailors who are interested in sailing to Bahamas in a group. Anybody know of a group or would like to make a group.

Re: next year miami /bahamas trip

I too live in .ga. Americus to be exact. I have an oday 25. My wife and i want to sail to the Bahamas really anytime . I have a flexible schedule so I'm open. Just redid trailer so it would make the trip. From what i found on the internet the crossing is only 45 miles. Not too scary when other boats are around and weather window is good. Pick a date and we can schedule it.

Re: next year miami /bahamas trip

I totally misread this. I don't actually have a boat yet! I've been sailing for little over a year now and haven't made the plunge into ownership. I have some plans on purchasing but I'm not sure if I'll have it by next summer for the trip. I thought you mean like charter a boat. You're lucky you already have a boat!

Re: next year miami /bahamas trip

No problem I encourage you to buy one. First one I bought was a sunfish for $125.00. If smoking crack was as addictive as sailing then I inderstand crack heads. Lol
My bigger boat was purchased by selling off stuff I was not using. Anyway... keep up trying. Not too late for next years trip

Re: next year miami /bahamas trip

Ok, my wife and I talked. We are going in January. We have narrowed it down to then. Far away from hurricane season. We are spending a week and a half. January 12 thru January 22 2014. We are looking for anyone who is wanting to sail over in their own boat in a group from the Miami Area. We are fun loving good ol folks. I've never been but I'm ready to try. We have a 25 foot Oday. 1979 I believe. I modified the sleeping arrangements so that we have 4" shy of a king size bed. If interested please let me know. This is a for sure trip even if we have to go solo. We will leave a few days for good weather windows.

Re: next year miami /bahamas trip

I might be interested as well...I am in the FL panhandle, so we would need to get the boat down to Miami first. It would be my wife and I in a Catalina 28. However, moving the boat to Miami, plus the length of the trip, may prove to be too much time needed...plus, we haven't done the jump from Appalachicola to Tampa before...keep us posted though...

Wouldn't mid to late November be better? Or, say April? I would think Jan would be peak season for cold fronts....No north winds when crossing the stream. You may be waiting a very long time for weather windows to cross (both ways) in January.
