Notice to Mariner app?

One would think there was an app that would alert local NtM. Is there?

How about a geo based website or email blast?

I mean something that you don't have to pro-actively go look up or that lists the entire country at once. Seems like this would be child's play these days.

I thought of it recently, when I was unaware of the closed passage on the West side of Gould's island for the Save the Bay swim. I'm usually very good about staying on top of these, or at least hearing the broadcast. Unfortunately, my cockpit radio volume had been turned way down and I didn't hear the Securite announcement. No, I didn't sail into it. With all the marine police on the perimeter, it caused me to check and I found the radio turned down.

Re: Notice to Mariner app?

The Coast Guard web site allows one to have Local Notice to Mariners emailed to you in pdf format. This works well for me.

Re: Notice to Mariner app?

Thanks. I think I am on the Federal shipping version. Those districts are huge, especially at maritime speeds. Information that consistently contains irrelevant data is learned to be ignored. I also wonder if some NtM pop up in the interim. Seems an app that knows your location and a user setting for distance would filter new NtM to those the skipper really cares about.

Maybe I'm giving away an app money maker. Somehow doubt it......
