If you are willing to help search for Nina

The search for s/v Nina and her crew continues in the Tasman Sea.
If you are interested in helping, this is from their Facebook page:

Interested in Bringing Home the Niña and Her Crew? There are several ways to get involved....

First, you can help in the search by logging on to Tomnod Tomnod. There you can look through thousands of satellite images of the Tasman Sea and tag images that look like a life raft, ship, or wreckage. The private search planes will use this information to locate a target area.

ALSO....
Donations are being accepted at:

All Home Bank locations ACCT#2059321602 (Make payable to Robin Wright)

Sunbelt Business Brokers, 2701 Johnston Street, Suite 300, Lafayette, LA

Community Foundation of Acadiana, 1035 Camellia Blvd, Lafayette, LA

Texas Equusearch online at Texas Equusearch*|*Mounted Search and Recovery, must add special instruction to the seller - Nina Search Fund

Here is a recent article: http://www.stuff.co.nz/world/america...n-yacht-search

We are hoping the search plane can go out today, the weather has not been good earlier this week.

Re: If you are willing to help search for Nina

Anyone try Tomnod yet? Stlll hoping to spot the liferaft again. Please check it out.

Update:
Sigh....I guess folks are too busy responding to the soap opera "Mutiny at Transpac..." to care about a real life situation where you could possibly save the lives of 7 other sailors. Very sad. I am sure their families understand your preoccupation with the other thread.

Very harsh. You gave links to outside sources. Just because there aren't posts here it does not mean that no one followed the links you provided.

Not even sure what thread you are refering to. I am just reading this post right now. First time I have even seen it. I thought I heard they called off the search a month or so ago.

Thats a bit of a cheap shot.

Many may believe something else: That the people died 2 and a half months ago and donating money now to a company that may be ramping up the chance of recovery to be an inappropriate way to use funds.

In my thoughts: carefully considering the implications of the Mutiny at Transpac can save lives in the future. Whereas ploughing money into expensive search is a waste.

And instead of me worrying about what the families may think, there are many families of little children with cancer who may like donations to medical research that has a better chance of benefit.

Everyone can make their own decisions, and its best done without being belittled.

Helping to search satellite images now can save lives now, not in the future (and does not cost you or anyone else a dime). They have spotted what they think is a life raft in these images. The search is continuing per the families efforts to try and find their loved ones, since finding this image has caused hope.

Donna, this is harsh?? Have you read all the harshness, name calling rudeness, etc that is in the Mutiny post? This is nothing compared to that, but yet they have not been called out for it. That post should have been shut down long ago, just plain nastiness.

Re: If you are willing to help search for Nina

Wavedancer ... some of us reading the OP might well be thinking that to comment here would simply kick off another bunfight. You asked for people to go search Tomnod and I'm sure some did. The question of donations is another matter altogether.

Boats do simply disappear without trace in and around the Tasman Sea. I have a friend whose father's boat did just that while on passage to Oz from Fiji. Not a skerrick of debris was ever found.

It is a sad thing indeed but reality is that the Nina and her crew are almost certainly gone and some of us might find it passing strange to spend time and money supporting what we would consider a lost cause. That said even the naysayers might well refrain from public statements.

Andrew B

Now that may sound harsh but it is probably fact.
