Re: Atkin 38 almost free

Well no, that's not quite true is it?

The correct url is The Official Minney's Yacht Surplus Blog note the extra dot.

And a boat is not being given away, a derelict stripped hull is being given away. After you rent the crane to lift it out and the flatbed to carry it away you've got the potential to scrap the lead keel or spend a fortune replacing all the parts that are now being stripped off the boat for scrap.

Great project boat, if you've got a crane and a lot of spare time.

Re: Atkin 38 almost free

Hi, thanks hellosailor for pointing out the url thing. Sorry about that, it's just what mine was reading . Any how , yes my friends a almost free boat is not free . In fact I think if you get this boat you have to rebuild the guys house at least part of it . And yes a crane and a truck and a yard to work on it . All goes with out saying . However, I think to the right person this could be something . Back in the 70's it was not uncommon (at least around here) for people to buy kit boats and finish them off . Mine was a kit boat , I didn't finish it . But getting back to that 70's thing this could be a hoot . And Minney's is way cool man .

there was a similar looking boat in Longport NJ for a long time... in a similar state of build. Not sure whatever happened to it
