Morgan 33 Out Island - great single handing boat, easy to sail, and can really handle the weather when it gets nasty.

Good Luck with whatever you decide upon,

Gary

Pearson Triton. But one in decent shape will probably go for more than $5k, particularly the West Coast version.

Re: Coastal Cruiser Suggestions

There's a huge difference between a 26' and a 35'. You might find a decent 26-27 footer for $5000, but anything over 30' is going to be in rough shape for that price.
Just start looking around, checking the classifieds including Craigslist. We can suggest different brands but since $5000 is your limit, it's really a moot point. I can suggest a Catalina 27 or 30, but if you can't find one in your price range....

Catalina 34

Re: Coastal Cruiser Suggestions

$5K is minimal for the smaller end of that range... anything you find at the upper end is someone else's problem they're trying to get rid of.

Best refine your limits or raise the bar...

Re: Coastal Cruiser Suggestions

I wouldn't cruise the Central and Northern California coasts in a small Catalina.

Re: Coastal Cruiser Suggestions

I second the recommendation of a Catalina 27 - should be plenty in your neck of the woods...

You've obviously never sailed along the California coast north of Point Conception.
