I have very few tools that float. I know, I've tested them

Laundry on a boat: The reason the 5 gallon bucket was invented.

Obviously cruising is not for everyone. Many people would rather remain attached to their "things" and to their cushy life as a 1%er.
Cruising is not "easy", nothing worth doing is easy.

"I have very few tools that float. I know, I've tested them' This is known as the 'float test' First described by sailors Flotsum and Jetsum on their unsuccessful attempt to get out of the harbour. The results of the test are easily determined. ,either positive or negative.

Stranger: Wow, you live aboard?
Us: Yup
Stranger: What do you do in the winter?
Us(with puzzled look): What do you mean?
Stranger: When it gets cold
Us: We turn op the thermostat
Stranger(now with puzzled look): Oh

Stranger: what about the dog?
Us: What about him?
Stranger: How does he "go"?
Us: We walk him
Stranger(again with puzzled look): Oh

As for washing we use the marina facilities or a local laundromat while in port. When out cruising we use a hand powered washer and a 110v spinner that removes water much better than a household washer. Then it get hung out. Both we purchased at http://www.laundry-alternative.com/
