Re: Fife Yachts - nice video

I'm wondering if any of our "plastic fantastics" will stand the test of time.
Oldest boat I have sailed on was the Wanderer dated 1886, operated; Mary E 1906, owned Seafarer 1909. Seafarer went through a small cyclone (100 to 110 knots) at 65 in the SoPac and after 5 days and being capsized 3 times, got us back to a safe harbor.
I truly miss sailing vessels produced for the love of the craft, rather than the bottom line!

Re: Fife Yachts - nice video

I've adored Fife's work since I first clapped eyes on the glorious Astor ... took line honours in the Sydney - Hobart three times. Beautiful thing.

otoh ..... classic timber sloop Winston Churchill sank like a stone during the 1998 Syd-Hob while plastic fantastics finished and won. If memory serves me right a Beneteau (albeit a First) won the race on handicap.

It ain't the meat its the motion. As it were.
