BVI Norman Island Pirate's Restaurant is burning

Sad news for those who've been to The Bight on Norman Island in the BVI, "Pirate's" Restaurant ashore, which is closed for the season but which had remodeled and modernized completely last year, has burned/is still smoldering.

Very Sad indeed. A happy place, a great place and a landmark for all of us that have been there. Hope they rebuild.

That does suck. I really liked how they remodeled it too. That will just make the Willy T even more packed at times!

I thought the consumption of alcoholic beverages before jumping off the upper deck was the purpose of the Willy T. How fancy a place do you need to accomplish that?

While the Willie T's is indeed a dump, the food there is surprisingly good if the cook is having a good day and has been supplied with either good raw material or drinks. The main rule for the Willie T's is to avoid the place on Sundays...

Went to Pirates the last two years...the remodeled Pirates we found this year was very nice indeed...hopefully they will rebuild...as the Admiral is far less of a fan of the Willy T then myself...

Mark
PS Maybe it is OK, I've never eaten there. Not the food, anyway.

I thought the new Pirates was putting a dent into Willy Ts this past winter.

Sad, but you never know the deal down there.

Jeanneau 54DS

In the harsh marine environment, something is always in need of repair. Margaritas fix everything.

Re: BVI Norman Island Pirate's Restaurant is burning

We were there last January for the first time. It was beautiful. I had heard that it had just been remodeled, but we didn't see it before.

This is just so sad. The Bight is an absolutely gorgeous destination, and Pirates filled a niche that's totally different from Willy T's. I guess the grocery boat is going to do a great business until they rebuild.
