Re: Inexpensive slip in Western Chesapeake?

We looked at many marinas earlier this Spring as we wanted to move. First suggestion is to use Marinas.com and contact as many as you can, you can search by city and the site gives good aerial photos.

The least expensive I know of is Bodkin Marina (not to be confused with Bodkin YC) located on Back Creek off the Bodkin at the mouth of the Patapsco. I know its further North than you said but not by much. Charlie is the owner, its a no frills place and not much going on. Your 4 ft draft will work fine there. I paid $1200 a year for our 37' boat back in 2005. Bodkin Marina in Pasadena, Maryland, United States

On the Rhode I found Bluewater Marina to be the cheapest, and they just put in brand new docks, other than that its pretty slim. Blue Water Marina in Edgewater, Maryland, United States

Contrary to what Jameswilson posted, I didn't find Holiday to inexpensive, perhaps I was just quoted a high price for some reason. Great spot, I would have enjoyed keeping the boat there, Holiday Hill Marina in Edgewater, Maryland, United States

Holiday Point is to exposed IMO, hence the lower prices. Holiday Point Marina in Edgewater, Maryland, United States

There was a place near Galesville that had some moorings, but I cannot find or recall what the name was, they were very inexpensive.

Get on the phone and start making some calls, good luck.

Re: Inexpensive slip in Western Chesapeake?

Thanks very much! Yes, Holiday Hills was surprisingly expensive. Have tried to call Blue Water, but no always get a recording and they haven't returned calls. Will look at Bodkin and White Rocks in Pasadena. Have done some searching via marinas.com, will keep working on it. Thanks again.

If Rock creek off the Patapsco is an option try Oak Harbor or White Rocks Marina.

Re: Inexpensive slip in Western Chesapeake?

Oak Harbor is a great place, well protected and great owners. Kept my boat there for several years. No frills place but great for DIY and many race in the RCRA. White Rocks owner is a A Hole, and the marina is not well protected from the North.

Thanks again!
Holiday Hill wanted to put you in a deeper slip, when your draft is only 4'?
What about their mooring ball rentals? I'll bet those are very cheap. I second Holiday Hill as a great place to keep a boat.

Re: Inexpensive slip in Western Chesapeake?

I had called them last month about another boat I was looking at but didn't buy that was 26 feet long with a 3.5-foot draft. They quoted $2,400/yr.

Re: Inexpensive slip in Western Chesapeake?

Thanks again, all! I am putting her up on blocks for the winter at Old Bay Marina near Sparrows Point. Bottom needed cleaning and painting. Will start looking for a a slip or mooring for the spring.

Anyone know who owns the mooring field between Pirates Cove and Thursdays on the West River?
