Off Potomac River, two marinas: BluHaven Piers (no haul out), and Pt Lookout Marina (full service). They are next door to each other. I was at BlueHaven but now on the hard at Pt Lookout. Good guys down there and great sailing area.

For Blue Water Marina in Mayo you should probably show up there to meet the owner & his wife. I wouldn't count on getting them on the phone. They probably still do some commercial crabbing and run the marina.
Nice spot. 4' draft should be ok there.

Thanks! I did eventually get through to Blue Water. Prices better than those around Annapolis. Best price I've found is still White Rocks off the Patapsco.

Idea of Potomac marina interesting.

At least I now have until spring to decide.

$1200/year in Deale (Phipps).

Sail Delmarva: Catamaran Row

Phipps Marine Railway in Deale, Maryland, United States

This second picture is quite old. There are 2 Stiletto 27 (one was mine), and they left ~ 8 years ago. Ther eare more salboats now, including 2 x 27' monohulls and cats to 36 feet (4' draft).

There some rational for that price. The marina itself is fairly nice, new docks, new bath house (due to a fire), newly renovated restaurant on site, easy access to the bay...however its pretty exposed to the North. I have personally seen three boats sink there during a TS. Even a westerly wind will cause some bouncy boats in that marina. I would proceed with caution. Check out Oak Harbor, you may be able to find a deal, ask t speak with Chris.

There is a place on the Magothy called North Shore Marina I believe, on Broad Creek...very well protected, but reaching anyone there is difficult. You pretty much have to find someone on the docks to find a number. Nothing more than a dock. Did you call Charlie at Bodkin Marina...he has got to be the cheapest around, and for a reason

Re: Inexpensive slip in Western Chesapeake?

Hello again! I just wanted to follow up on last fall's postings on marinas in the western Chesapeake. I talked to the owner of Phipps, but I'm still a little concerned about water depth. My draft is 4 feet, 3 inches. He said there may be times when I'm touching the bottom, but he didn't think it would be a major problem.
I was wondering if you had more insight into how a boat with that draft will fare in that marina. I'm concerned about being stuck on a day when I want to go sailing. I may go visit in person in the next few weeks.
Thanks!
