If you are a trailer sailor and want to single hand w/o help to un/step the mast, I would suggest you make one of these. plans are available via interwebs... or mssg me and I can tell you what I did. 40 bucks hardware plus the cost of the winch.

If you have a bigger vessel you might be able to use the same idea...
if you dare!!!
