You mean Jimmy Cornell, the guy that circumnavigate 3 times and end up discovery the French aluminum centerboarders?

The last one with an OVNI 43 (70 000 nm).

I guess you would be interested in this article:

Jimmy Cornell answers questions about OVNI yachts | Cornell Sailing Publications and Events

Except that Jimmy has commissioned a new boat and it is not an OVNI or even an Alubat. It is also a French aluminum centerboarder but made by Garcia, and a one off, his dream boat. I am very curious about it.

Garcia belongs to Allures (the hulls are made there) and has a long history in what regards making big high quality aluminum boats, most of them centerboarders.

Certainly a boat to follow on the interesting boat thread

Regards

Paulo

Re: Ovni 435

Jimmy Cornell! Thank you. It was bugging me that I couldn't recall his name.

The Allures are way up there on my dream list. That 39.9 gives me the warm fuzzies.

I visited Ovni's site but couldn't find any info on this new line you spoke of. Would you happen to have a link, Paulo?

Agreed. The Interesting Sailboat thread is phenomenal! It's the only one I follow. I hate it when I get to the last post. My hats off to you sir! I've learned so much. I'm up to about 40 pages of notes!

Re: Ovni 435

Cancel that Paulo. I found it on the Alubat.com website.

I've got to say. They must build their boats better than they market them. Their websites are awful. They're rolling out a new line and the links don't work. There's next to no pictures or literature. The pictures are always amature-ish and either blown out by over exposure or flash (lack natural light). I can't believe some of the pictures they chose to publicize. Very bad marketing decisions and very poorly designed websites (Northsea Maritime as well as Alubat). Last, the 1980's called and they want their interior designer back. lol Man, the interiors just keep getting uglier. You'd think they'd realize the position that they're in and understand they only get one chance to make a first impression. Sad.

Yes, that is very stupid and the information they give you on the boat shows is no better. They have some nice movies on the web regarding the Cigale and the bigger boats but nothing good regarding the OVNI series.

We had talk on the interesting thread about the OVNI evolution series:

Interesting Sailboats

Interesting Sailboats

The 43 should be almost on the water (if not already) and I have read several boat tests regarding the 52.

Here you have a cruiser's opinion posted on a blog:

HANAMI II: The ALUBAT 52: a new look at an iconic name ...
